Whether you go for a classic emerald shade or more of a bright mint green, these 11 green nail polish shades are sure to have your nails looking chic and on-trend for 2020.

Leaf Me Be
As a GH Beauty Breakthrough Award winner, this formula dries fast, chips less, and lasts longer than regular polish. “The deep hunter green shade with hints of black is a more sophisticated, chic way to wear green that transitions from days at the office to nights out,” says Good Housekeeping’s Beauty Director April Franzino.

Mojito Madness
If you’re looking for nails that can match your mojito (because who doesn’t?!), this classic bright green from our top-tested brand Essie has all the right shade of green you want, plus a gorgeous glossy finish.

Envy the Adventure
Another one of our top-tested nail polish brands, this OPI nail lacquer in “Envy the Adventure” is a true emerald green shade in a creamy, shimmer-free finish — and it’s the perfect gorgeous look for any occasion.

Go Go Green
Besides being our pick for the best value nail polish, this budget-friendly formula from Maybelline is a great choice if you want to “go go green,” especially with a beautiful, bright lime shade that’s sure to steal the show.

Mint Candy Apple
A go-to pastel favorite of Good Housekeeping’s product and review editor Jessica Teich, this delicate, light-toned shade from Essie is a true mint green that’s just as sweet and delightful as its name.

Things I Have Seen in Aber-Green
Want a green that’s darker and moodier? Try this near-black shade from OPI’s Scotland collection, which will definitely make your look edgier and cooler no matter what you’re wearing.

Emerald Blaze
For an extra stunning touch on your nails, “Emerald Blaze” is a beautiful duochrome green that shifts to a bronze and brown shade depending on the light and angle — plus, this formula from Covergirl was shown to be the most chip-resistant polish in our beauty lab tests.

If you’re going for a more neutral tone, try this shade of olive green with a bit of white overcast. “This subtle khaki green shade is more neutral and perfect for someone who wants to dip their toes (or tips!) into green,” says April.

How Does Your Zen Garden Grow?
You’ll feel totally zen in no time with this pale green shade from OPI’s Tokyo collection — it’s a luscious soft-and-light tone that’s perfect for springtime.

Looking for some sparkle in your green? This bewitching emerald shade from Zoya is the perfect sparkly green, complete with a textured “pixie dust” finish that’s sure to catch everyone’s eye.

Sweater Weather
It’ll always be sweater weather on your nails with this intense forest green shade from Essie, especially thanks to this stunning shimmer finish that glides on smooth and silky.

Has Instagram made coloured contact lenses cool again?

Have you noticed the one eye-coloured contact lens trend all over Instagram? People all over the world are taking self expression a step further by posting selfies with one eye a different colour than the other. A new trend which flirts with this notion of subtle subversion seems to have taken off all over social media—mismatched eyes—an underground craze of changing the colour of only one eye. I might not be there yet, but it got me excited about the idea of coloured lenses again.

I wore coloured contact lenses back in 2009, when they were all the rage. It was not because I wanted lighter eyes, or wanted to fool anyone into thinking my eyes were grey, but I wanted to use them as an extension of my makeup routine. After the trend died down, they fell by the wayside, up until this burst on social media got me thinking about that old twinkle in the eye again.

A lot has changed in the coloured contact lens industry. For starters, there are way more options than the few brands there used to be ten years ago. After some intense contact lens research I landed on Swati Cosmetics. Created by Indian make up artist Swati Verma and her Stockholm based fiancé Vishal Nanda after 2 years of research and development, the new brand promised the most natural range of coloured contacts for all and every skin tone. Plus, they last upto six months a pair. I first spotted the brand on Instagram, and loved their packaging. A display of each of their eight colours on every type of skin tone and eye colour made it easy for me to choose which ones I wanted to try. I tried all eight colours, and have to say I noticed instantly they were more moist and comfortable than any contact lens I’ve ever worn. I loved the turquoise and jade colours, which were super light, but if you didn’t know me, would have believed that it was my real eye colour. I found that the bronze shade was an intense brown that works perfectly for a night out, as they’re not too obvious, but make the eyes pop.

While contact lenses are generally safe for most users, those with sensitive or dry eyes should proceed with caution. If you’re used to wearing regular contacts, coloured ones won’t be too different. However, if you’re a neophyte, learning how to safely put them in and take them out is necessary. Plus, it may feel like they’re just makeup that you can switch around, but you shouldn’t share them friends on a night out. This could lead to eye infections and other issues. Picking a lens that fits the eye perfect is necessary, because a too-tight lens can cause an abrasion, or corneal discomfort. Doctors suggest choosing a contact lens brand along with an expert so softness, size and power can be taken into consideration.

Rihanna All Swear By This Hair Dryer

While most of the attention at this year’s Met Gala will go to the over-the-top, religious-inspired outfits (Rihanna’s Pope hat! Chadwick Boseman’s white and gold tux!), there was a secret weapon behind some of the most memorable looks: the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Professional Edition.

Okay the price tag is a bit up there, but it’s the go-to for stylists and hair-obsessed women for a good reason. This bad boy has a digital motor that can dry your hair six times faster than conventional blow dryers. (Think about how much less time you’d spend in the bathroom every morning!)

It’s also small, lightweight, and quiet AF, making it easier to maneuver when you’re styling on your own (and you don’t have, you know, a stylist at your beck and call). It also has a heat control function, which helps prevent scorched strands while making hair crazy shiny.

The Professional edition has a removable filter you can clean yourself, an 11-ft cord (in case the plugs in your house are way far away from the mirror!) and stronger magnetic attachments for add-ons like diffusers.

This is an upgrade of the award-winning Dyson Supersonic hair dryer. The original model costs a bit less and still has that super quiet, fast-drying motor and heat control that make it one of a kind—still making it well-worth your money if you’re a frequent blow dryer.

While it’s hard to see Rihanna’s hair under her Church-inspired look, her stylist Yusef Williams dried her hair before putting it into a ponytail, and then styled the sneaky fingerwave peeking out from underneath her mitre.

Paddy McGurgan’s top lip prep tips

I always get asked what my hero lip products are and how to accommodate a variety of clients. Here are my favourites.

Marvellous matte

For the coming season, light hues on the lips are bang on trend, so if you prefer the texture of your lip product to be matte, I really have only one option: LimeCrime Velvetine’s (£15.95, Make-up Pro Store). These matte liquid lipsticks are long wearing, super pigmented and come with a lip-perfecting applicator that makes them easy to apply. My favourite shades are Gigi (above), Elle, Marshmallow and Buffy.

Gloss queen

If you are more of a glossy girl, then there are plenty of options for you. Recently, gloss went out of trend while matte reigned supreme, but I have seen a change in this in the last year or two.

Gloss formulations have been reinvented. You no longer get the stereotypical stickiness that people often think of when they hear the term ‘gloss’. Gloss looks beautiful and effortless on the skin – it allows the lips to appear fuller, hydrated and very au naturale.

I love using the KIKO Hydra Lipgloss (£7.90, in shade 02 Natural Beige). The soft texture feels wonderful, blending into the lips and leaving them smooth and radiant, and the non-sticky texture is long-lasting. The lip gloss is available in 30 amazing colours and a variety of finishes: transparent, highly pigmented, shiny and pearly.

Another lipgloss that is amazing for this season is MAC Cosmetics Dazzleglass in shade Baby Sparks (£15.50). This lip gloss dazzles with light and shine to bring an exciting three-dimensional pop to your lips.

Large particle pearls reflect and refract light to mimic the brilliance of quartz and opal crystals.

The lipgloss provides exceptional shine with a crystalline iridescence, and it glides on with a non-sticky, non-tacky, lightweight and moisturising texture.

Beautiful balms

If you prefer your coverage to be more sheer and also love a balm-like texture, then you definitely need to try Clinque Chubby Sticks (£18.50).

Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm is a lip treatment with sheer colour that relieves dry, cracked lips and provides immediate moisturisation.

The unique pencil-style applicator provides easy to apply, sheer and soft lip colour and rolls up for ease of use.

My favourite shade in this range is Mega Melon.

Paddy’s top lip prep tips

1. Exfoliate your lips. Your lips are just like the rest of your body and are subject to free radicals, and dead skin cells can build up. Use LUSH Lip Scrub Bubblegum (£5.95, right), one of my all-time favourites, to breathe new life into your lips.

2. Always use a lip liner. Even if you have the most perfect lip shape in the world, a lip liner will create definition and give you a guideline for your lip colour.

3. Try before you buy. Just like with other types of cosmetics, lip colours have undertones as well, and you can test whether a colour will suit your skin tone and complexion before you buy. Make sure you are happy with the warmth of the product and that it enhances your skin tone and complexion.

4. If you are using a lip colour and feel you have applied too much or that it is flaking, simply blot off using a tissue. This will help your lip colour last longer and get rid of irritating excess.

5. Make sure your lip colour is grab and go-worthy. By this I mean that you should go for a product that’s easy to apply and can be used for touch-ups easily with little to no hassle.

How to Be Elegant In Your Prom Dress

Royal Blue Chiffon Scoop A-Line/Princess Sweep/Brush Train Prom DressesWith this you will have ample time to get the ideal dress which will make you stand out from the crowd and make it as perfect as you can. If you want to have the best time of your life during prom here are some of the best tips that you should consider and focus on to stand out:

Go for Uniqueness

The dresses that amuse one lady might not amuse the other. However one thing that is certain is that for one to be unique she has to go out of the normal fashion designs. It is advisable to work with a designer when getting your prom dresses UK. Designers know what is trending and what is unique as well. Sequin dresses, for example have been recommended and modified by different designers. The dresses hardly miss the eye and so you will keep everybody looking at you and eager to associate with you. You can also go for a trendy dress and work on it so that it stands out from the rest.

Get Elegant Colors

Some of the best prom colors of all time are pink, black and white. The colors are still preferred to date. The easiest way to be unique in your dressing is to break away from this norm. With this go for the more daring colors such as navy blue and emerald. The two colors are known to draw attention which is the most important thing that you deserve that night. When getting your prom dresses UK you have to ensure that you don’t choose a color which will certainly be chosen by the other girls. Also ensure that the color compliments your skin tone.

Go For Royalty Dressing

Prom dressing can sometimes get adventurous. Besides choosing a dress you will also need to wear one that is full ball or fitting gown. Very few girls opt for gowns during prom and so you will certainly stand out with it. You should simply be careful about the other factors such as color and material. UK dress shops have different types of dressing which will make you stand out. For example, you can also go for a high necked dress or go for long sleeved dress for sophistication. Classy choices are also idea when you want to stand out from the rest of the crowd.
